About DBOseven and Abhinav

The person behind your databases.

DBOseven is a database consulting practice focused on SQL Server and PostgreSQL production systems. The work is mainly around performance troubleshooting, HA/DR readiness, migration planning, production monitoring, and database reliability. The goal is simple: find the real cause, reduce operational risk, and make database changes that can be defended in production.

I am Abhinav, a database consultant with 12+ years of experience working on SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments across on-prem, AWS, and Azure. I have spent most of my career troubleshooting slow systems, blocking issues, migration risks, availability problems, and production incidents where wrong assumptions can create real business impact.

DBOseven is built around direct senior DBA involvement. No unnecessary layers, no handoffs, and no generic tuning checklists. You work directly with the person doing the diagnosis, explaining the trade-offs, and helping your team take the next safe step.
About Us
The Background

Enterprise scale, without the enterprise bloat.

Before going independent, I worked in enterprise environments managing databases for healthcare, logistics, and financial services companies. I've tuned queries on 45TB+ databases, migrated legacy systems across platforms, and built high-availability architectures that actually hold up under pressure.

The Approach

No layers. No handoffs. You talk to me, We fix it.

I went independent because I kept seeing the same pattern — companies paying for large teams and expensive tools when what they really needed was one experienced person who could diagnose the root cause and fix it. That's what I do.

What We Do

Deep knowledge across the database stack.

Performance Tuning

Wait stats, execution plans, indexing, query optimization.

cloud_sync

Migrations

Cross-platform, cloud, version upgrades — minimal downtime.

High Availability

Always-On AG, replication, DR design and testing.

SQL Server & PostgreSQL

Deep internals knowledge across both platforms.

Beyond The Terminal

Life outside of production hours.

When I'm not troubleshooting production fires, I write about database internals on this blog and explore new technologies like TimescaleDB. I believe the best DBAs never stop learning — the engine changes, the cloud changes, the problems evolve, and you need to evolve with them.

Outside of work, I'm a father to a curious one-year-old who has her own ideas about what my keyboard is for, and a husband to a wife who makes everything else possible. We love exploring new places together — weekend trips, hidden cafes, wherever the road takes us. It keeps the mind fresh and the perspective wide.

The Bookshelf

Concepts that shape my work.

I'm also a reader. Here are the books that heavily influence my engineering and consulting philosophy.

Ikigai

Taught me that purpose lives at the intersection of what you love, what you're good at, and what the world needs.

Deep Work

Shaped how I approach complex performance problems — distraction-free, focused blocks.

Atomic Habits

Reminded me that consistency beats intensity, whether it's learning PostgreSQL, or building a practice.

The Almanack

Gave me the conviction to bet on specific knowledge and leverage rather than trading time for money.
